Emi Grannis, a San Francisco jewelry designer, has been crafting some of the most impactful pieces of her career. Hailed and lauded by everyday wearers of jewelry, it’s hard not to see a Grannis piece on a passerby. With an incredible attention to detail and a steady hand, Grannis creates each piece of jewelry herself in her San Francisco studio. She believes jewelry should not only be beautiful and well-made, but sustainable—recycled and reclaimed metal and ethically sourced natural gems and diamonds are used whenever possible. Grannis believes in creating unique commitment and wedding bands to celebrate all kinds of love.

“I’ve always identified more with the term “maker” rather than “jewelry designer” because the hands-on part of the process is what I love,” said Grannis in a 2017 interview with Bob Cut, “there’s something very meditative and centering about making jewelry for me—I often allow my hands and intuition to take over and can turn off my “monkey mind” and just be. It’s a lot of work, but I truly enjoy making each piece by hand. Knowing that I’m personally creating each piece of jewelry makes me feel connected to whoever ends up owning it, and I always hope customers can feel the love and care I put into it.”

And though you may be asking yourself, “why does Emi Grannis” sound familiar”, you may have heard her musical stylings with her sisters Kina Grannis and Misa Grannis. You can say that Grannis is an artist of all talents.

Grannis’ work utilizies 14 carat gold and premium diamonds—her pieces last beyond lifetimes. From the words herself, “all pieces are handmade by the artist in her studio—this keeps her very busy! Kindly allow 2-4 weeks (depending on the item) for fabrication, processing, and handling before items are shipped.”

One thing we’re really excited for is Grannis’ “ready to ship” section of her site where it allows customers to buy pre-made jewelry without having to wait for the production time. But one thing for sure is that you’ll be getting a piece of history and true craftsmanship in every diamond.
